Band Aid foi o super-grupo montado em 1984 por Sir Bob Geodof para a sua quixotesca luta em prol dos miseráveis da Etiópia. Do They Know It's Christmas? foi a canção escolhida para ser o porta-voz dessa meta e o pessoal do U2, Duran Duran, Status Quo, Culture Club, Police, Bananarama, David Bowie e mais um monte de roqueiros expoentes da época botaram o Phil Collins na batera e emplacaram este som nas paradas por 3 anos seguidos, com os lucros revertidos para essa Fundação de Caridade Band Aid Trust. O sucesso foi tanto que gerou os concertos Live Aid pelo mundo todo. O grupo foi reformulado em três ocasiões, sempre apresentando os mais famosos artistas britânicos e irlandeses de canção pop de sua época. Na sua última versão,que tem o baixo de Sir Paul McCartney, apenas o Bono participa do time original.
